We were all blessed with a long weekend so we planned our Weekend Getaway to Pune : is about 149 km from Mumbai ; road-trip works beautifully all thanks to the Mumbai-Pune Expressway !! wherein it En-routes Lonawala which is a Popular Hill Station in the Western Ghats. So that was my destination for half a day because the first half was allotted to a Family Outing in Pune. (Sigh)
We reached around 12:30 completed our Chores for a Family Outing and took off for Our : Things 2 do in Pune Sharp at 3 which was quite Warm but then Travel Tan always gives you a Wide Smile to Chill so no regrets.
For a Half Trip of Pune : We had 3 Attractions of Pune in our mind – considering the Feedback from my fellow traveler friends.
i.e: a. Dagdu Sheth Ganpati -Temple
b. Shanivaar- Waada -Historical and Archaeological Place of Interest
c. German-Bakery – Foodie’s Paradise in Pune
Okay lets get into a bit detail about the Places : Dagdu Sheth Ganpati Mandie is the one of the Prominent places to visit in the City of Pune. Built by The Dagdu Halwai Totally Soaked in the Detailing of Gold and Silver : this temple is the most difficult one to shoot from a photographers perspective as Every angle of this Place is Magical !!
The Sculpture ; Ornaments ; Ambiance ; the Vibes all around surround you with Calmness n leave you speechless. The Eyes of Bappa transfer you altogether to another World. You do not have to wait in long queue for Darshan 🙂
I found something quite Unique about this Temple, You have Darshan from Glass Window which just bang on the Road so you can casually say hello to Bappa while passing through the Road 🙂
Shanivaar Vada: If you have seen the Movie Bajirao Mastani ; this place needs no introduction. It was a Palace inside the Fort once upon a time. As you enter this is Rock Solid Wall Structure which leaves you Amazed with its Beauty.
When you Say Fort ; it Stands to its Grandeur !!
The Shanivar- Wada portrayed in the Movie – Bajirao Mastani ; is quite different from the Original Structure. It looked so Fancy in the movie but which is not in fact some of the Phases of the Fort have been burnt or destroyed !! The movie has brought the fame back to this Amazing Place according to the Authorities . As A Result you are surrounded by Bunch and bunch of people all around.
Now that we have Explored History and Soul of the Place ; We need to Calm down after that Afternoon Hopping : Next Stop German Bakery 🙂
It is said that a Foodie’s journey to Pune is incomplete without a visit to German Bakery so we better mark our attendance there. Cool : Calm and Comfortable that is German Bakery for you. Loved every minute of being here !! It is Cafe with In-house Bakery which leaves your taste-buds you spell-bound. The Almond Biscutti is just the Star of that Cookies Range.
Ice tea for me Lemon and Berry Cola 🙂 Heat killed my Hunger so just Ice tea 🙁
Pune, I found it quite Peaceful and Disciplined compared to Mumbai. It was not that humid for Warm for sure. I have just explored the city in just 3 hrs so many places to go for the Next Time.
All the 3 places which I have covered come are located in the Main City Points as a result they are well connected by Public Transport.
- The people are quite Warm and Co-operative so ask the people if you miss out on directions !! Because Routes as on the GPS many a times quite confuses you with multiple options.
- Please carry An Umbrella or Hat ideally which I had quite Missed.
- The timing for the Temple are 6 am to 9 pm and there neither a lunch break nor a VIP Drashan Line. Shanivar Wada timings are 9 am to 7 pm : ticket costs Rs 5 p.p
- The German Bakery has got an Amazing Assorted Cookies Boxes ; please ensure you buy 2 of them because if you have just one of them like us ; you will miss on clicking pics like Me.
- There is no dress-code for the temple ; photography is allowed inside the temple but you can click from Outside so ensure you carry the Zoom Lens.
- Celebrate Road-trips 🙂
